Current Information on ICRF3

Patrick Charlot, the chair of the working group (WG) on the next generation of the International Celestial Reference Frame — ICRF3, provides a Summary of the current status from his presentation at the 5th Unified Analysis Workshop co-organized by the IAG's GGOS and IERS, held in May 2017. This presentation gives an overview of the work done as well as a time-line of the WG's plans.

Much progress has been made since May. Early next year the WG will formulate a proposal and various papers will be made available for consideration prior to a formal resolution at the IAU in August 2018.
